FAQ’s
Who should see a counselor?
Counseling can be helpful to all of us during various times in our lives. If we are experiencing symptoms from depression, anxiety, or other mental illnesses, therapy can be very helpful in providing effective tools to manage our challenges. Sometimes changes in our lives can cause unbalance and will motivate us to seek a safe place to work with a therapist to regain our footing. Speaking our truth in a safe place can be extremely effective in helping us to gain clarity and insight.
How long does counseling take?
There are many factors that will determine how many sessions a client might need to provide a foundation for progress. You will be learning tools to help you retain and maintain improvement. The acuity of your individual situation along with the level of your motivation to take action to change are the main factors in how quickly you will feel secure in going it on your own. I will work with you to make good use of our time together and to ensure that you have the tools you will need to continue healing and maintain balance.
What about confidentiality?
Our sessions (including your file) are confidential. There are a few exceptions to confidentiality:
- If I believe you may cause serious harm to yourself or others
- If you disclose that a child, elderly person or disabled person is being neglected or abused
- If a court of law or government agency is ordering me to disclose information
